OUR HISTORY

Established in 1962, SMART Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit, financial cooperative owned and operated by its members (Sheet Metal Workers' Local Union 104 employees, apprentices and their families) which spans 49 counties from Ventura County, California, to the Oregon border. By understanding the nature of the trade and offering products and services that meet their unique needs, SMART Federal Credit Union helps its members to create financial stability as well as strong financial futures for themselves. We share the values of members, put their financial interests above profits, and believe that every member deserves exceptional service. We treat every member of SMART Federal Credit Union not as a customer but as family.

WHY A CREDIT UNION?

A credit union is a not-for-profit financial institution owned by its members. Any income made by the credit union is returned to the members by paying higher dividends to the members’ savings/share accounts, lowering interest rates on loans or strengthening the credit union’s reserves.

The members of the credit union elect a Board of Directors, whose responsibility is to set the policies of the credit union. The Supervisory Committee’s responsibility is to oversee the credit union and make sure the records are accurate and internal controls are maintained. The credit union undergoes an annual federal examination as well as an annual audit by a Certified Public Accountancy firm.

ACCESSING YOUR ACCOUNT

Online Banking

Access to your account via your desktop computer or mobile device 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are a first-time user, please call our office for the initial set-up. To learn more about the features of Online Banking, visit the Online Services page.

Mobile App

The most common features of accessing your account are available using your iPhone, iPad, iTouch by downloading our Mobile App through the Apple Store or Google Play. Your account must be registered through Online Banking before your account is accessible through our Mobile App.

CO-OP Shared Branch

Through our partnership with the CO-OP Shared Branch network, you have access to hundreds of convenient branches where you can access your account and make deposits, withdrawals and payments.

ATM and Visa Debit Card

With a SMART Federal Credit Union -issued ATM or Visa® Debit card, you can access your account and make withdrawals at any of the 30,000+ surcharge-free CO-OP ATM locations. Many locations also accept deposits.
